TV is bad for us and the world would be better place without it

Nowadays, many people watch TV because it’s a good entertainment. Most of the houses have a TV because so many people watch the news or other TV programmes. I don’t think TV is bad for us, I think it’s good and we can learn a lot with it.

Personally, I don’t spend so much time watching TV. However the time I’m watching TV I’m disconnecting of all the tings. I watch the news to know what happens around the world and to know what the things are we have to do for a better world. It’s clear that TV is a teacher for us, there are good documentaries from which we can learn a lot. We can learn about other cultures and we can know how people live in another part of the world, this for me is interesting.

However, I believe that not all the programmes on TV are good, there are a lot of rubbish programmes, which are soap operas or reality shows. I think we shouldn’t watch some programmes like Big Brother, because this are the worst programmes, this programmes don’t have a good purpose and all that they show isn’t good, and all the time the people are in this type of programmes are getting silly. For the children, it’s not good watch so much TV because they don’t learn anything with cartoons. In most of them you can see people fighting and this is not good for a child. I’d say that children shouldn’t spend so many hours in front of TV and TV do a lot of damage to the children.

In conclusion, for some people, TV is a great invention. Without it we can’t know most of the things we know. However, all the people don’t think like me. For some people TV is the worst invention and they are against it.

Last march I went to Italy with my classmates.
Italy is different from here, because there, the landscape is not as picturesque as our landscape. There aren’t any trees and not many mountains. Here everything is more picturesque. However, there are more historical buildings in Italy.

We went sightseeing to some cities for example, Venice, Florence and Pisa. We went to see Romeo and Juliet’s balcony in Verona. We also went to Slovenia and we saw some caves and a big castle. We went on a coach to visit the different places we wanted to see. When we went to Venice, we couldn’t go on trip by gondola because it was raining. We visited some historical buildings. We also went to Pisa. We went sightseeing the inclined tower and we took the typical photo there. There the weather was also bad. Everyday was rainy and it only the last day it was good, that day was the day that we stayed in Pisa. The sun rose. We didn’t have a good journey home because of the weather again the sea was rough and the ship moved a lot.
The food was quite good but not many. Because, the pasta was “al dente” and I didn’t like it that much. However, in general, it was good. We ate only pizza and pasta.
In Italy, in March there were a lot of students and we met there some people from Catalonia.

The thing I like most was the caves in Slovenia. They were amazing, unbelievable. I would like to go back because it was so much beautiful and incredible I think everyone of us, who went there together, I would like to repeat it because we were friendlier and it was different as the time as we were in class because the relationship was different.

Dear Paul,
Today it’s my birthday. I’m staying at home with my parents. This morning when I woke up my parents gave me a present. It was a new mobile phone, it’s really beautiful.
We’re waiting for my family because my grandparents and my aunt, my uncle and my cousins are comming home to celebrate my birthday.
Today it’s a special day for me because I’m eighteen. Here, when a person is eighteen, she can drive a car and if you’re eighteen here you can enter the discotheque. But I know that you aren’t eighteen, yet.
Yesterday night my friends organized a party for me. I went to work and when I turned up at home everybody shouted “surprise”. It was amazing. I dress up with a formal outfit. They made a cake for me, we shared out the birthday cake and everybody sang “happy birthday” to me. I was really happy. Maria set up the sound system and we joined in the dancing all night. At 4 o’clock am we cleared up the house and everybody went to their houses. It was a night to remember.
Now I’m going to have lunch with my family at my grandparents’ house.

I hope next year you can be here with me and celebrate my birthday with us. I miss you so much.
I hope you’re well.

Write soon,

Janina*
